Sonora Estate is a farm we can’t help but go back to year after year. The renowned estate's long-standing relationship with ST ALi green buyer, Lucy W, goes right back to the start of her green buying career, almost 20 years now, and is only getting stronger.
Sonora Estate has been in the Guardia family for over a century and is currently owned and operated by father and son duo, Alberto and Diego, the estates specialty is in traditional natural and processed coffees, focusing almost exclusively on these processing styles, and for good reason - they’re really damn good at it.
This estate’s coffee grows among exotic trees and other vegetation, providing natural shade as well as improving the composition of the already naturally rich volcanic soil. The Typica variety is one of the older cultivated coffee varieties and doesn’t have the disease resistance of newer hybrids, making it riskier to grow. The payoff is its consistently high cup quality, as seen in this year's juicy harvest.
This flavourful cup is the perfect Spring drink, with notes of crisp Pet-Nat wine, apricot jam, yellow florals and a hint of salinity.
