More details Less details
Costa Rica season continues with another beautiful naturally processed coffee from the Herbazu Micromill in the West Valley of Costa Rica. ‘Herbazu’ stands for ‘Hermanos Barrantes Zuniga', or the Barrantes Zuniga Brothers. Well, it’s four brothers and one sister: Manuel Antonio, Arnaldo, Leonard, Marla Barrantes Zuniga and their brother-in-law Ronald Araya.
The Barrantes Zuniga siblings are third-generation coffee farmers and together founded Herbazu Beneficio in 2001. All of La Planada's milling is done by Cafeteleria Herbazu, literally a stone’s throw across the road. Herbazu is a relatively new mill, and handles the entire spectrum of coffee production for the family across small batches, maintaining fanatical attention to detail and quality. Since Herbazu has been operating, it has gathered a fierce reputation as one of Costa Rica's celebrated coffee mills, producing multiple Cup of Excellence winners over the years. This coffee shows exactly why the Herbazu family have rightfully earned their reputation for quality and deliciousness, tasting of ripe peach and concord grapes.
