Plum + Cola
We at ST ALi are stoked to be sourcing more coffees from closer to home as origins like India expand and improve their specialty offerings. It’s been exciting to try these coffees year after year and taste in real time how each new harvest is a level up from the last.
This delicious brew comes from the family-run Kerehaklu Estate in Karnataka. Father and son, Ajoy and Pranoy, grow coffee under the dense old-growth jungle canopies on their 97 hectares, choosing to preserve and maintain the natural environment and make use of tree shade provided rather than clearing forest for higher productivity, as is the norm. Pranoy uses his biology degree to explore at the forefront of modern coffee processing, while his father, Ajoy, brings over 35 years of experience in farming, agronomy and agriculture. The pair care deeply about the land and peoples of India, and approach coffee growing with a keen awareness of its complex history and environmental impact, always striving to work in harmony with the biodiverse ecosystem at Kerehaklu and to create something that benefits those around them at every level.
ST ALi green coffee buyer, Lucy’s, motto is, “Good coffee by good people” and Kerehaklu Estate couldn’t exemplify that more - we are proud as heck to begin this relationship with them and to share this balanced, sweet brew with you.
