Grown in the tropical highland of Cajamarca, Peru, this bright, juicy washed offering from Lima Coffee COOP embodies everything we love about this region and is exactly why we’ve been sourcing beans from them since 2017.
Compared to its coffee growing neighbours Peru is a relative newcomer to global coffee export, with only about 100 years of international trade, and only about 30 years growing specialty beans. In spite of this and of the infrastructural and organizational challenges the origin faces, it has firmly established itself as a coffee growing powerhouse, regularly ranking 5th in the world for Arabica production and export.
In a country whose specialty coffee growing is only a few decades old coffees from Cajamarca have taken out the national Cup of Excellence title multiple times over since the competition's introduction in 2017 - unsurprising with lush green mountains and well known heirloom varieties in abundance.
