DAY ONE - ELIAS BAYter montenegro - el vergel

Elias Bayter Montenegro joins us from El Vergel, one of our newest partners that is quickly blooming into what is sure to be a long-standing relationship. Elias joins us to chat El Vergel's carefully controlled fermentation process, and present an exquisite example from the farm, Gesha Marcela.

 

ABOUT ELIAS

As one of the owners and operators of El Vergel Farm in Tolima, Colombia, Elias Bayter Montenegro, along with his brother and mother, has overseen the growth of their family farm to be one of the region's largest producers of specialty arabica coffee. As Managing Partner, Elias is at the forefront of experiments in natural coffee processing. 

day three - nathaniel fleming - finca santa teresa

We're incredibly excited to be joined by Nathaniel Fleming of Finca Santa Teresa, one of the leading producers of natural process Gesha. Nathaniel will join us to personally present the farm's coffee, Gesha Sophie. 

 

ABOUT NATHANIEL

Throughout the last 7 years Nathaniel Fleming has been involved in Finca Santa Teresa with his family, who are co-owners of this specialty coffee farm nested high in the volcanic mountains of Chiriquí, Panama. He works both at farm level, introducing modern processing techniques, and closer to the consuming side of the supply chain, introducing modernised packaging and marketing . His goals are to reduce plastic use at production, and to always continue innovation practices in everything Finca Santa Teresa does. He is currently based in Sydney.

Join Aida Batlle and Rachel Peterson - Two of coffee's most revered women - as our extremely special guests for Legends. Aida and Rachel will join us to discuss their exceptional careers, trailblazing techniques and brew some exquisite cascara tea.

ABOUT AIDA

Aida Batlle is a fifth-generation coffee producer operating her family’s three farms—Fincas Los Alpes, Kilimanjaro, and Mauritania— and a fourth farm of her own Finca Tanzania, all four in El Salvador’s Santa Ana region. Aida is known for her progressive and ground-breaking work delving into experimental processing techniques with her roaster partners and developing cascara


ABOUT RACHEL

Rachel Peterson and her family operate the world famous Hacienda La Esmeralda in Boquete, Panama. It was in 2004 at the Peterson’s Jaramillo Farm that the incredible rediscovery of Panamanian Gesha occurred. The Gesha variety from Hacienda La Esmeralda first competed and won in the Best of Panama in 2004, and continued to win for many years to come. The Petersons have led the way in promoting direct trade and hold their own online auctions each year where what many consider the world’s most delicious coffee is sold.
