This coffee is from one of the family farms of the revered producer,  Aida Batlle. Aida, aka the Beyonce of Coffee, is known as a trailblazer in specialty coffee production and as the first woman to win El Salvador's prestigious Cup of Excellence competition in 2013. Her passion is in post-harvest techniques, excelling at the classic processes while also experimenting with everything from fermentation and yeast inoculations to drying methods—and basically every variable you can think of. Coffee Bey has been one of the leaders heading the modern processing movement, which is based on experimentation, trial and error, and the pursuit of more: more consistency, more exploration, more flavour.


Finca Kilimanjaro is one of Aida’s four farms, three of which were passed down from her father and one entirely her own, and she also consults with farmers through her Aida Batlle Selection program, to help them improve and refine their growing and processing. 


Historically, coffees from any of the four Batlle family farms has been all but impossible to procure. They’re pre-sold each year to a select few customers, long-standing partners of Aida’s who bought from her since she began farming in 2013. ST. ALi green bean buyer, Lucy Ward, has worked with Aida for many seasons now, and we are incredibly proud to share her coffee for our fifth year in a row, though we’re even prouder to call her a dear friend.
