Our Orthodox blend is made up of components sourced from various regions in Peru and Brazil. We love using Peruvian coffees, as they produce a broad spectrum of flavours from chocolate and fudge through to jammy, sweet fruity notes. We tend to stick to the northern regions rather than farms, as the small-lot farmers produce tiny amounts of cherry on their own. This wide ’palette’ of flavours available allows us to keep that consistent flavour year-round Orthodox is known for.
Brazil is a massive coffee-producing region, responsible for over one-third of the worlds coffee production. Brazil is also one of the most advanced and industrialised countries in the coffee-producing world, with a considerable focus on yield and production. We look to our Brazilian partners not just for quality (of course!) but also consistency with supply year-round. Our main partner, the Sertaozinho group, has been with us for over six years, and with a huge focus on quality they consistently produce Cup of Excellence winners every year.
We’ve combined these components to create a coffee with creamy milk chocolate, fudge and apple jam flavours producing a kickass milk-based beverage. As an accessible entry point into understanding what specialty coffee is all about, this is an approachable coffee, updating traditional espresso blends with a ST ALi third wave twist.
